The first Father’s Day was in 1910 on June 19, coincidentally the same day it falls this year.  This is a day that children honor their dads, typically with gifts and cards. In 1966, President Lyndon Johnson issued the first president ial proc lamation honoring fathers . Six years later, Father’s Day was made a permanent nation al holiday, and set to be observed on the third Sunday in June. Father's Day has been a tradition for quite a while now. Each June families get together to celebrate fathers and grandfathers. Whether you choose to barbecue or go out to dinner, watch a movie or play mini golf, it's a day to spend time with your dad and show him your appreciation.
