The 27th Annual Lake of the Ozarks Shootout races are this weekend at the Lake of the Ozarks. The event started in 1988 as the Lake Rescue Shootout. Then, many local boats participated simply to establish who had the fastest boat. As the years went on, it grew into the largest unsanctioned boat race in the Midwest. Today there are over 100 racers and 100,000 spectators! It's time for the  Lake of the Ozarks Shootout this week!!  This is a great charity event that draws large crowd to the Lake to watch the largest unsanctioned boat race in the Midwest.  Official speeds of 208mph have been recorded in previous years.   The event has donated $100,000.00 to 22 different organizations in the Lake area!!
