Thanksgiving Holiday Happenings at Lake of the Ozarks

Thanksgiving is a time for family and friends no matter where you are.  If your Holiday plans bring you to the Lake, you can find plenty of fun events for the whole family!   Here are a few things to consider: Thanksgiving Feasts Galore!  If you are in town visiting and don't want to cook or don't have the kitchen to do it in - no problem!  Many area resorts and restaurants are offering fabulous buffets:  Country Club Hotel & Spa, Camden on the Lake, The Lodge of Four Seasons, Tan Tar A Resort and the Trophy Room at Old Kinderhook all are having scrumptious  buffets.  If you prefer a sit down dinner with all the traditional fixin's head over to J. Is Your Roof Ready for the Elements of Winter?

Especially going into the Christmas Season you want to have as little extra stress as possible!  Set aside a few minutes to examine your roof to avoid unwanted surprises when after the first round of round of winter precipitation falls. Here are some guidelines to help make sure your roof is ready for the elements ahead.   Examine the framing for any sags or uneven areas.  This could be the sign of damage to the foundation under the shingles. Clean the gutters if you haven't already.  Also make sure they are tightly fastened for proper flow.  Water standing on your roof with no way of escape is a disaster waiting to happen! If you have any natural dips or valley in your roof make sure the area(s) are free of debris.  The additional weight combined with ice or snow could be too heavy for the roof to maintain. The 15th Annual Signature Chef's Auction to benefit the March of Dimes is tonight! This premiere event pays tribute to the culinary excellence of local chefs while raising money to help more healthy babies come into this world. Both live and silent auctions will take place throughout the evening.  The silent auction will be ongoing while you are sampling the delectable offerings form the various restaurants and caterers.  Later in the evening the live auction takes place offering incredible dining, vacation and entertainment packages of different styles. Every year a local family who has received help from the March of Dimes is chosen as the Ambassador Family. This year it is Robert and Kristine Sills with baby Kensey who came into this world 8 weeks early.  As she was arriving she received life saving treatment that was a result of research by the March of Dimes.  After a rough beginning, Kensey and her family are happy to be celebrating her first birthday later this mon
