Does My Roof Need Repaired or Replaced?

Renovations to your home can be a fun, enjoyable, and rewarding experience, but not all are equal. When it comes to roofing your Lake of the Ozarks home or business it can be daunting deciding whether or not to repair or fully replace it. There are several factors involved and as yourLake of the Ozarks roofingexperts, we are here to shed some light on the topic. Continue reading so when the time comes, you're prepared to make the call. When weighing the pros and cons of repair vs. replacement the first thing to consider is the age of the roof. How old is the roofing system? Is your sealant cracking? How does your roof appear aesthetically? Depending on the material of the roof, it's lifetime may be longer than that of some of the other options. Metal tends to last the longest while asphalt has the shortest lifespan. It's important to keep in mind that while repairs are typically cheaper than replacements upfront, recurring repairs over the years will quickly rack up to exce…

Tips for Cleaning Your Siding!

When was the last time you cleaned your siding? Keeping your siding cleaned can help extend the life of your siding and keep the exterior of your home looking great. Algae and other dirt can accumulate and it's a good idea to clean your siding one time per year. Not sure what the best approach is? Read on to get a few tips from our roofing company at the Lake of the Ozarks!
1. Inspect for Damage Before CleaningAll types of siding are vulnerable to water infiltration, especially where it butts against windows, doors, and corner moldings. You'll want to check for caulk that has cracked due to age or has pulled away from the surface, leaving a gap. If you have wood siding, check for chipped or peeling paint, as well as cracked wood and trim. For stucco, look for cracks and chips, and for brick, look for crumbling mortar joints.
2. Use Warm, Soapy WaterThe best way to clean your siding is by hand with a bucket of warm, soapy water. Use a soft-bristled brush attached with a long han…

4 Signs Your Roof Isn't Properly Ventilated

Ventilation plays an important role in the lifespan and durability of your roof. A typical asphalt roof should last 15-20 years and sometimes even longer depending on the quality of your shingles. If your roof isn't properly ventilated, damage can occur and decrease the lifespan of your roof. Not sure if your roof is properly ventilated? Read on to find our four signs your roof might not be properly ventilated.  #1 Damp or Moldy Rafters and Ceiling JoistsOne of the most noticeable signs is the presence of condensation, mold, and mildew in the attic. Under cold weather conditions, the moisture in the warm air from inside your home will condense on the underside of the roof deck, leading to mold growth and the rapid deterioration of the wood decking under your roof. Inspect the rafters and ceiling joists for moisture and any signs of mold or mildew. #2 Rusty Metal FastenersFasteners include screws, nails, or bolts. When your attic is filled with excess moisture from improper ventila…
