Admire Cars or Show Off Your Own at the Magic Dragon Street Meet this Weekend!

Above & Beyond Roofing is all about the community.  Whether its participating in charity events, putting roofs over neighbors' heads or just enjoying some of the activities that the Lake area has to offer.  We wanted to let you know about a great event happening here at the Lake of the Ozarks this weekend.  From showing off your old muscle car that's been sitting in storage to admiring the car you wish you owned, the Magic Dragon Street Meet Nationals is the perfect event for any car lover out there!

Registration

Do you have an old muscle car, truck or bike to show off?  Register it in the 2014 Magic Dragon Street Meet Nationals!  You can go online to www.magicdragoncarshow.com to pre-register or you can register in person at the Willmore Lodge starting Thursday, May 1st at Noon.

Schedule

The event will begin Thursday, May 1st at Noon with registration and the Aces High Poker Run. For those of you just coming to check out the cars, show hours begin on Friday, May 2nd from Noon to 5 PM.  The show will continue Saturday from 8 AM to 7 PM and Sunday from 8 AM to 1 PM.  For the complete schedule of events, please visit: www.magicdragoncarshow.com

Location

The Historic Bagnell Dam Blvd., located in Lake Ozark, Missouri, is a favorite for locals and visitors alike. Also known as “The Strip”, it provides a unique setting for the Street Meet, hosting a wide variety of shops and outlets including crafts, souvenirs, t-shirt shops, restaurants, arcades and amusements. Since we close the strip to regular traffic during the Street Meet, there’s parking for over 1000 show vehicles. For out of town guests, you can find direction at: www.magicdragoncarshow.com

Awards and Judging

Professional judging is back this year with bigger trophies and more classes!  The last day to register for judging is Saturday, May 3rd by 4 PM at the Willmore Lodge.  You can check out the list of judging classes here: www.magicdragoncarshow.com.  The awards ceremony will take place on Sunday, May 4th at 1 PM at the Page Stage.  One first place award will be presented to the highest score in each vehicle class.  One second place award will be presented to the second highest score in each class (contingent on at least 5 participants per class).  The Grand Champion award will be presented to the vehicle with the highest overall score.

10 Questions to Ask Your Roofer Before Hiring

Above & Beyond Roofing is your locally owned residential and commercial roofing specialist. However, there are many other roofing companies at the Lake of the Ozarks for you to choose from. So how do you make your decision?  Be sure to ask your roofer the following questions before hiring them!

1. Do you have a current license, general liability insurance and workman's comp insurance?
You want to hear yes to all of these questions and you should ask to see relevant paperwork for proof.  If the company cannot provide proof, chances are they don't have insurance.  At Above & Beyond Roofing, we carry $2 million in insurance and workman's comp for all employees.

2. How long have you been in the business?  Can you provide references?
You want to make sure that the company you are working with has been around for awhile and will be sticking around.  The last thing you want to happen is for the company to go out of business a couple months after installing your roof and then you have no one to contact when something goes wrong.  You also want to ask for references and be sure to actually check those references.  A good list will include both clients and professional affiliations in the community.

Above & Beyond Roofing has been serving the Lake area since 2004.  Our staff has more than 100 years' combined experience in the roofing industry.  For a list of our references, you can visit our website at: http://www.lakeozarkroofing.com/references.asp.  We are also members of the Better Business Bureau, Camdenton & Lake Area Chambers and Business Network International.

3. Do you provide a written estimate for how much the job will cost?
This is probably the first question that popped into your head.  You will want to get multiple quotes from different roofers before a job is given to anyone.  And the lowest price will not always be the best bet.  When it comes to your roof, you want to make sure you have good quality, which sometimes mean a higher price. Above & Beyond Roofing provides free estimates so you will know what the cost of the job will be before they even get started.

4. What is wrong with my roof?  Does it need to be repaired or entirely replaced?
It is important to know exactly what is wrong with your roof and then compare with multiple roofers to make sure they agree on the problem.  You don't want to pay a roofer for more work than what actually needs done. Not every roof problem will necessitate the replacement of the entire roof. Many times you can just have a few shingles repaired and save a great deal of money.  Always get the diagnosis in writing too, so you have something to hold the contractor accountable.

5. If my roof needs completely replaced, will you remove the old roof, will you bring a container to put the refuse material in and where will you place this container?
In order to save time and money, some roofers may just look at the old roof and shingle over it if all looks well. However, without pulling up some of the old shingles to inspect for soft spots or rotted wood beneath, you could have larger, costlier problems in the future.  The old material from the roof will need to be disposed of and the roofer should bring a container for this.  You will also want to talk about a place to put the container so to not damage anything.  For example, asphalt can crack under the extreme pressure and you could end up with a lot more to fix than just your roof when the job is over.

6. What kind of warranty or guarantee comes with the service and is it provided by you, the manufacturer or both?
Roofing products generally come with a manufacturers warranty between fifteen and fifty years. Many companies will extend this warranty if they get to make the repairs themselves.  Be sure to understand the terms and length of the warranty, as well as who to contact in case something needs repaired or replaced.

7. Are you going to install drip edge or edge metal when you install my new roof?
Drip edge or edge metal is a small piece of aluminum that is placed under the shingles on the edge of the roof so that runoff will flow into the gutters rather than behind them.  This will prevent water damage, so be sure to ask about it before the roofer starts the project.

8. What time do you plan to arrive and depart each day?
Roofing projects can cause quality of life issues.  Talk with your roofer to set a schedule where your sleep won't be cut short in the mornings and the work won't disrupt dinner or family time in the evenings.

9. What will you do in the case of inclement weather during the job?
You want to hear that your roofer is going to protect your roof and cover up the job project with tarps or plastic covering to prevent anything from getting into your home.

10. What happens if the job takes longer than expected?
Many different situations can cause the roofing project to take longer than originally expected.  You will want to know upfront what will happen in terms of payment, compensation or other agreeable items if the job takes longer than what is stated in the contract.

Above & Beyond in the Community!

When moving to the Lake of the Ozarks in 2005, Ben and Melissa never imagined how much they would fall in love with the Lake Area.  They moved Above & Beyond Roofing here for the potential to work year-round, but have since become heavily involved in a variety of charity events and organizations to support this community!  Take a look at this video featuring several of the charities they hold so near and dear to their hearts.

In addition to their community service efforts, Ben and Melissa are also proud members of the Better Business Bureau, Camdenton & Lake Area Chamber of Commerce, Warsaw Chamber of Commerce, Lake West Chamber of Commerce and Business Network International.  Above & Beyond is more than just your average roofing company at the Lake of the Ozarks, they are a part of what makes this community so great!

At Above & Beyond Roofing, we pride ourselves on being locally owned and operated, being open 7- days a week, and we turn the average roofing job in one day!  Contact Ben or Melissa for a free estimate on your next project at 573-302-0354!
