One common problem that we come across during the winter months are caused by icicles.   Icicles may look really neat, but they can pose a real danger.  Often they are the result of clogged gutters or downspouts.  A combination of the clogged gutters and the weight of the icicles can cause roofing and gutter damage. To discourage icicles from forming, you should clean out your gutters and remove all the leaves and debris that have accumulated. The winter weather has been very harsh this year...it can also be very hard on your roof!  Missouri Weather can be especially troublesome due to the fluctuation in temperatures.  One day we have snow or ice and the next day we basking in the sunshine!!  This fluctuation in temperatures can cause several problems, one of the most common problems is Condensation. What is Condensation?   Condensation is when moisture develops at the roofs ceiling area and becomes trapped.  As your home heats up during the day, the roofing material absorbs the suns heat and creates an air cavity between the insulation and roof.  Moisture is drawn into the cavity and becomes trapped and is not able to vent and dry out.  When your home cools off, the trapped water condenses and gets into the wood of the roof.
