Check Your Roof for Winter Damage!
Remove Debris from Roof & GuttersOne of the first things you'll want to do this spring is to remove any debris that accumulated on your roof this winter. Especially with high winds in the spring, debris can easily be blown onto your roof during a storm and stay there, leading to roofing issues. Debris can puncture your roof and/or block water from traveling off your roof, leading to leaks. Removing that debris can not only make problem areas visible, but it will allow future rainwater to exit the roof appropriately.
Check the Attic for IssuesInspecting the underside of your roof can reveal potential problem areas as well. Look for sagging or bowing wood panels. Signs of moisture and visible light from the outside are also things to look for. Discolored wood is a sign of a possible roof leak. Water damage, wood rot, or mold can occur if a roof leak is left unnoticed. When not addressed in a timely fashion, leaks can lead to major issues, not just with your roof, but also in other areas of your home.
