1) Remove Debris from Roof & Gutters
One of the first things you'll want to do this spring is to remove any debris that accumulated on your roof this winter. Especially with the winds we experienced a couple weeks ago, debris can easily be blown onto your roof during a storm and stay there, leading to roofing issues. Debris can puncture your roof and/or block water from traveling off your roof, leading to leaks. Removing that debris can not only make problem areas visible, but it will allow future rain water to exit the roof appropriately.2) Check the Attic for Issues
Inspecting the underside of your roof can reveal potential problem areas as well. Look for sagging or bowing wood panels. Signs of moisture and visible light from the outside are also things to look for. Discolored wood is a sign of a possible roof leak. Water damage, wood rot or mold can occur if a roof leak is left unnoticed. When not addressed in a timely fashion, leaks can lead to major issues, not just with your roof, but also in other areas of your home.3) Visually Inspect the Roof
While we don't advise climbing on top of your roof yourself, you can visually inspect the roof from the ground. Look for missing shingles, storm damage or anything else that just doesn't look quite right. Loose or exposed nails, shingles with missing granules (granules can accumulate in downspouts), rusted flashing, rotted or damaged fascia board and/or damaged gutters or downspouts are all signs of roofing problems. If you suspect any roofing issues, be sure to call a professional roofer at the Lake of the Ozarks to come out and take a look at it for you. Above & Beyond Roofing offers FREE inspections!
