Protect Your Roof from Ice Dams this Winter

Winter is upon us, and that means the season for snow and ice. Winter weather can really take a toll on your roof. One of the biggest roofing concerns during the winter months is ice dams. In today's blog, your favorite Lake of the Ozarks roofing company offers some advice for protecting your roof from ice dams this winter season. What are Ice Dams?  Ice dams are the result of an accumulation of ice and water on the roof and under the shingles. They form when the upper areas of a roof are at above-freezing temperatures and the lower-hanging areas are below-freezing. Melting snow and ice runs down the roof and then re-freezes on the edge of the roof and in the gutters. This causes excess water from melting snow to back up and pool behind the "ice dam" and work it's way up under the shingles, leading to the possibility of a leak. Holiday spirit is in the air! This weekend is the Annual Lake Area Christmas for Kids. All proceeds from the event benefit underprivileged children in the Lake of the Ozarks area. Above & Beyond Roofing is proud to be an angel sponsor for this event. Keep reading to learn how you can help Lake area children enjoy Christmas this holiday season. Christmas for Kids Event This year's event will be held on Saturday, December 10 in the Granada Room at the Lodge of Four Seasons. The cocktail party will begin at 5:30 pm and dinner will be served at 6:30 pm. Without a table sponsorship, dinner is $60 per person, plus an unwrapped toy. General admission starts at 7:30 pm and is $20 per person plus an unwrapped toy. Entertainment for the night will feature Shawn C, Elite Lighting & Sound and KC Groove Therapy!
