Things to Expect When Getting a New Roof Installed

Whether you're looking to update your home or improve your curb appeal, a new roof at the Lake of the Ozarks can get the job done! Getting a new roof can be an exciting event. If you've never been through the process, you may not know exactly what to expect.  Owens Corning Roofing has put together a simple outline of what you can expect in the days leading up to, during and after your Lake of the Ozarks roof installation.

Days Leading Up to Roof Installation

  1. One or two days before the installation starts, a dumpster might be delivered to your home.
  2. If your contractor is recycling your shingles, a secondary dumpster may be delivered.
  3. Your shingle delivery will arrive a few days before the project start day. You should check with your contractor to find out when this will occur so you can be prepared by moving your cars and making sure someone is home.

During the Roof Installation

  1. If you own any pets, you'll want to check with your contractor to see if they need to be locked up while they're there working on your roof installation.
  2. Take appropriate measures to protect any valuable items located around the base of your house, such as statues, planters, etc. You should ask your contractor if they will be covering your flowers or shrubbery. If not, we highly consider doing it yourself.
  3. Make sure gates are either left open for contractors to get in and out.
  4. If you have any specials requests, for example if you don't want them using your bathroom, make sure you let the person in charge know ahead of time.

Finishing Up the Roof Installation

  1. Most likely, the contractor will do a final walk through with you; this is where you make sure they have done everything they said they would.
  2. Typically the contractor will do a sweep of your yard for loose nails and other debris. However, you should talk with your contractor about the clean up process prior to the start of the job. If you're unhappy with the process, ask the contractor to do a secondary sweep for nails.

After the Roof Installation

  1. Once the project is complete, the dumpster will be picked up.
  2. A representative from the contractor might set up a time to come to your house to do a general review and collect a final payment.
  3. If you purchased a roofing system warranty through an Owens Corning Roofing Platinum Preferred Contractor, they will register your warranty directly with Owens Corning Roofing. If not,you can go to the warranty page of their website to register your standard warranty. Prior to signing the contract, you should understand the warranty you will be getting and whether the contractor or you will be responsible for registering it.
